Vibration White Finger & Hand Arm Vibration

Vibration White Finger Solicitors in Leeds - Industrial Disease

These two conditions are very similar and are specifically an injury to the fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists and/or arms which is caused or contributed to by exposure to vibrating tools and equipment in the workplace.

Symptoms of VWF/HAVS are often tingling and numbness in the fingers (which can cause sleep disturbance), not being able to feel things and lack of dexterity in the fingers, loss of strength in the hands, fingers going white in the cold and wet.

Many common tools and processes produce high levels of vibration such as pneumatic drills, power hammers, grinders, hand-held compressed air tools, chain saws etc.  The risk depends on the amount of vibration, the length of time the tools are used, the way they are used and the working conditions, such as posture and how cold it is.

Employers can be held legally responsible if they failed to provide protective equipment and to rotate working patterns to reduce exposure to vibration.
