Licensing
Our professional team of quality licensing solicitors have extensive experience advising clients in the leisure and entertainment industries.
We act for clients ranging from individuals to PLCs. We are able to deal with the full range of licensing legislation, from Alcohol Sales to Licensed Estate Management.
Since coming into force, both the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005, major changes have been made to leisure licensing legislation in England and Wales. Whether you want to apply for a Premises Licence, defend a review application or investigate gambling opportunites under the new gambling legislation, we will guide you through all the stages of the application.
We offer highly competitive fixed fees for many uncontested licensing applications. Much of our work is undertaken on a fixed-fee basis. Our licensing team work with the Property and Commercial Department when necessary on sales and purchases of licensed property.
A Personal Licence is needed if you wish to sell alcohol under a Premises Licence. The Personal Licence is portable, lasts for ten years and is granted by the Local Authority. In order to be granted a Personal Licence the applicant must satisfy the following criteria:
- be over 18 years old;
- possess an accredited licensing qualification (NCPLH);
- not have had a personal licence forfeited in the last five years;
- pay the appropriate fee;
- supply two passport style photographs, signed by a solicitor or anyone with standing in the community;
- not have been convicted for any relevant criminal offences which are not spent.
