Industrial Deafness
Industrial Deafness Solicitors in Leeds - Industrial Disease
Industrial deafness is a common form of industrial disease and defined as: 'the permanent loss of hearing caused by exposure to industrial noise in a worker's employment'.
Employers have a legal duty to protect the hearing of employers from excessive noise levels. Many employers have failed to follow Government guidelines relating to noise at work. As a result tens of thousands of employees have had their hearing damaged by their employment.
In 1963 the Government published a document confirming that noise at work could cause hearing loss and tinnitus. The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 were introduced in April 2006 to better protect workers from occupational noise.
It is important to consult a solicitor as soon as you realise that your deafness may have resulted from your exposure to noise at work as there are time limits to pursuing such claims.
